Assembly theme
This week’s assembly theme was all about pioneering women. A person who begins or helps develop something new and prepares the way for others to follow is a pioneer and we were focussing particularly this week on women through history who have paved the way in medicine, science or engineering etc.
Mr Darch began the week trying to help the children to not fall under the spell of stereotyping certain professions such as scientists, doctors, engineers and astronauts as ‘men-only’ professions. We then talked about many other pioneering women such as Rosa Parks, Emmeline Pankhurst, Marie Curie and Queen Victoria and what they achieved during their lives.
