Pupil Premium & Free School Meals

At Calmore Junior School, we are committed to ensuring that every child reaches their full potential, regardless of their background or financial situation. The Pupil Premium funding is an essential part of our strategy to support disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers.

What Is Pupil Premium?

Pupil Premium is additional funding provided by the government to schools to support pupils who may face barriers to learning due to economic or social disadvantage. The funding is used to improve the attainment and overall school experience for eligible pupils.

Who Is Eligible for Pupil Premium?

Your child may be eligible for Pupil Premium if they:

  • Are currently eligible for Free School Meals (FSM).
  • Have been eligible for Free School Meals at any point in the last six years (known as Ever 6 FSM).
  • Are in the care of the local authority or have previously been in care (Looked After Children or Post-Looked After Children).
  • Are from a family where a parent serves in the Armed Forces (Service Premium).

  • Academic Support:
    • Small group interventions in reading, writing, and mathematics.
    • One-to-one tuition for pupils who need extra help.
    • Access to educational resources and technology.
  • Wellbeing and Pastoral Support:

    • Access to external services.
