Our learning this week

Year 3 – This week we have been learning about bones in our body and what our skeleton looks like. We have had lots of fun making a skeleton puzzle! In English this week, we have been looking at ‘The Twits’ and words used to describe Mr Twit. In Maths, we have been looking at equal groups and using arrays to show multiplication. Please keep practising your times tables and take part in the class battles!

Year 4 –This week in English we have started our new unit of work on ‘The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe’ by C.S. Lewis. We have been making predictions and writing diary entries. In maths we have been learning about measurement and the links between millimetres, centimetres and kilometres. In science we have started our new topic, ‘Light it Up!”. We have made circuits to light up light bulbs.

Next week in English, we will be writing our own description of the White Queen. In maths, we will be comparing measurements. In science, we will be identifying parts of a circuit.

Year 5 – This week, in English, we have been exploring the features of mystery and suspense texts.  In Maths, we have been practising short multiplication. In Geography, we have been using our map skills to identify continents and European countries surrounded by seas and oceans. Next week in English, we will be learning about dialogue, punctuation, and sentence structure. In maths, we will be developing our understanding of short multiplication. In Geography, we will be looking at physical and human geography.


Year 6 – In literacy this week, we have begun our new text, “Holes” by Louis Sachar. We have used the text to write poems comparing the Yellow Spotted Lizard with a green lizard. Next week we will be writing a letter to Stanley’s Mum telling her all about life at Camp Green Lake. In maths, we have been learning about squared and cubed numbers. Next week, we will be learning about the order of operations in calculations. We have also begun our new art topic this week and have been creating circles with different shades and tones.
